In recent years, the steel industry capacity replacement policy has attracted much attention, and steel enterprises have promoted technological transformation through capacity replacement, and promoted the transformation and upgrading of the steel industry, but some problems have also been exposed in the implementation process. In order to further understand the progress of steel capacity replacement work, evaluate the implementation of steel capacity replacement policy, and listen to the opinions and suggestions of enterprises, the China Iron and Steel Industry Association organized a symposium on steel industry capacity replacement work on December 1, 2023, the vice president of the Steel Association Luo Tiejun made a summary of the meeting, and the deputy Secretary-General Gu Yan chaired the meeting.

Baowu, Angang, Hunan Iron and Steel, He Steel, Puyang Iron and Steel, Anyang Iron and Steel, Rizhao Iron and Steel, Jiujiang Wire Rod, Fujian Dadonghai, Metallurgical Planning and Research Institute and other units participated in the meeting, and exchanged speeches on the progress of enterprise capacity replacement projects, problems and difficulties faced, accumulated experience and lessons, and relevant policy suggestions. The Planning and Development Department of the Iron and Steel Association introduced the national overview of the capacity replacement of the steel industry, and exchanged speeches.

Luo Tiejun pointed out that since 2015, the steel industry capacity replacement policy has been revised three times, and four versions of the steel capacity replacement implementation measures have been issued, which cooperate with relevant policies such as project filing, forming a certain constraint on new capacity, and playing a positive role in promoting the structural adjustment and layout optimization of the steel industry. At present, some problems exposed in the implementation of the steel capacity replacement policy deserve attention, and it is necessary for the steel industry to seriously do a good job in the evaluation of steel capacity replacement. Today's meeting initially listened to the views of the participating units, and launched the steel capacity replacement evaluation work. In the next step, the Iron and Steel Association will continue to conduct in-depth research, widely listen to the opinions of the industry and enterprises, summarize the common problems in the implementation of policies, put forward valuable opinions and suggestions, and strive to convert the demands of enterprises into professional opinions of the industry, and convert professional opinions of the industry into policy options of the government, and further promote the high-quality development of the steel industry.
